Most village and community halls run on a standard single-phase supply, similar to a large house rather than a commercial kitchen. Catering equipment that would be fine in a hotel kitchen can trip a hall's supply if too much runs at once.
A typical 13A socket supplies around 3kW. A hall running on a standard domestic-style consumer unit can usually run 2-3 medium-draw items (a hot cupboard and a fridge, for example) on separate circuits without issue, but running an urn, a hot cupboard and a griddle from the same circuit at once is a common way to trip it.
