Cutting up food at an occasion or party can be tricky without your basic table knife - and we've got lots of styles of knives for hire available for you ready to be delivered to the United Kingdom.

Start Planning Your Event Today

While the humble table knife might be one of the most basic items we hire out, it is also one of the most important for anyone who is serving food at their event or special occasion. We’ve always got thousands in stock and are ready to serve parties no matter how big or small.

What are the different kinds of knife hire available?

There are generally two types of standard knives in any place setting. The table knife is the longer of the two and can be used both for cutting up food or for spreading things such as butter. The shorter style of knife is the dessert knife, which is used with foods like cakes and biscuits.

Styles can differ by the patterning on the handle or by type of metal used. Stainless steel knives are the most commonly used, but there has increasingly been a trend for gold and silver coloured cutlery in recent years.

Do I have to clean my knives for hire before they are returned?

Cleaning cutlery after a big function is not only a boring job but is also the time when cutlery is most likely to get lost while on hire.

It’s the main reason why we have made it compulsory for all cutlery items to have the send it back dirty option added at checkout. All a customer needs to do is to ensure that all food debris is scraped off cutlery before it’s repacked ready for collection.

Taking care of your cutlery order

We clean and check all knives for hire before we band them together into packs ready for delivery. We don’t polish cutlery however, and we recommend that if you’re looking for a perfect finish it’s worth spending a little time buffing up cutlery once it’s arrived. With larger orders it’s always worth ordering a little bit extra, just to cover any eventuality.

No need to worry about security deposits

There’s no need to worry about a damage deposit when placing an event hire order with Expo Hire. Instead, we run a free minor damage waiver scheme to cover minor damage or loss, so you don’t need to worry if you break the odd glass or plate. We do charge for excessive or negligent loss or damage at 10x the hire price. Please check our terms and conditions for full details.

How delivery and collection works

Working out delivery costs is easy with Expo Hire; simply use our carriage calculator to find which of our branches is near to you. Tap your postcode in and it will confirm not only whether we cover that postcode or not, but also which of our 11 branches is closest to you and the cost for delivery from that branch, as well as the list of possible extra charges.

Once you have filled your basket and confirmed your delivery dates and postcode in the checkout, we will show you an itemised cost for delivery so you know exactly what you’re paying for before you place your order.

Want to know when your delivery is coming? You can track your driver using our real time maps on the day of delivery and collection. Simply enter your postcode and order number into our order tracking page and find out when our driver will be with you. You can also use the link we send you by automated text.
