Start Planning Your Event Today

Organising an event requires serveware to present food well. Caterers, hospitality venues, and private organisers select many items to display dishes, from appetisers through to desserts. You hire serveware from Expo Hire. It arrives clean and packed in secure crates, ready for use at your chosen location.

Serveware for Buffets and Table Service

You use Expo Hire serveware to present food well. Rectangular stainless steel platters come in several sizes. A 40cm x 28cm platter holds cold starters, charcuterie selections, or arranged canapés. For substantial quantities or shared main courses, a 50cm x 35cm rectangular platter offers increased surface area. Our deeper rectangular serving dishes measure 6cm deep. They suit dishes with sauces or substantial vegetable portions.

You select oval salvers for formal presentations. They come in stainless steel or silver plate. A 30cm oval salver suits individual roast portions or side dishes. The 40cm version presents a whole chicken or a substantial joint of meat. Silver-plated oval vegetable dishes with lids maintain temperature at a buffet. These dishes hold around 2 litres.

Round bowls are essential for salads, vegetables, or pasta dishes. Our 28cm diameter bowls suit various side dishes. Larger 35cm diameter bowls hold ample portions for a buffet, for example, a large green salad for 20 guests. Glass serving dishes, such as the 35cm x 24cm oval dish, provide a clear view of layered desserts or vibrant salads, adding to the visual presentation. Small sauce boats are necessary for gravies, custards, or dressings. These have a capacity of 250ml or 500ml. These sizes provide adequate quantities for guests.

Bread baskets use stainless steel or natural willow. They keep rolls and artisan breads neat. Consider our contemporary wire bread baskets for a modern style or the traditional woven willow for a country-themed event. For buffet setups, you might also require buffet mirrors.

Selecting the Right Pieces

Serveware materials influence both appearance and function. Stainless steel provides durability and a clean, modern look. It withstands frequent use and maintains temperature well. It is a reliable choice for busy events. Silver plate serveware, including oval salvers and certain lidded tureens, offers a traditional or premium appearance. These items require gentle handling. They add a sophisticated detail to table settings for formal dinners or receptions.

For items like fruit displays or centrepiece arrangements, consider our buffet mirrors. A 30cm round mirror can make a display appear larger, reflecting light and making food look more abundant. A 40cm rectangular mirror provides a stable, decorative base for a cheese board or dessert selection.

Think about the flow of your buffet or the arrangement of your plated courses. Using varied heights and shapes with serveware adds visual interest. Place larger platters at the back of a buffet, with smaller bowls and tureens towards the front. Guests can then reach everything. Place orders for each item based on your guest numbers. This accounts for potential re-fills or menu changes throughout the event. Expo Hire delivers all serveware in protective crates. Upon return, you only need to scrape off any food residue; Expo Hire handles the full cleaning and sanitisation.
