Funeral and Wake Equipment Hire
Funeral receptions and wakes can be held at home, in a village or community hall, at a pub or hotel, or at any other venue the family chooses. Whatever the setting, having the right tables, chairs, and tableware means guests are comfortable and the event runs without difficulty during a difficult day. We supply equipment for wakes and funeral receptions across England and Wales.
For a standing wake with a buffet, trestle tables for the food and drink and a mix of chairs for guests who need to sit are usually enough. For a seated reception, rectangular or round banqueting tables with chairs at each place give the event more structure. We hire folding chairs, Cross Back chairs, and Chiavari chairs depending on the formality of the occasion. For home wakes with limited space, folding chairs and lightweight trestle tables are the most practical option.
We hire full place settings for seated receptions, and cups, saucers, side plates, and serving platters for buffet-style events. Glassware for soft drinks, wine, and tea and coffee service is available alongside. Crockery and cutlery sets are available in quantities from 20 upwards. We deliver clean and collect after the event so there is nothing for the family to deal with afterwards.
For self-catered or home wakes, we hire hot water urns for tea and coffee, serving platters, chafing dishes to keep food warm, and serving utensils. Trestle tables for the buffet and a tablecloth to cover them are straightforward additions. For home events where space is limited, a single hot water boiler with cups and saucers covers the tea and coffee requirement for up to 50 guests.
Tablecloths in white, ivory, black, or navy are available. We launder everything before delivery and collect it after the event. For a home wake, a floor-length tablecloth on a trestle table covers the base and gives the buffet setup a tidy finish. Napkins are available to match.
Organising a wake often happens at short notice. The period between a death and the funeral can be as little as a week, and families are frequently arranging catering and equipment in the days before the service. We do our best to accommodate short-notice orders and will confirm availability as quickly as possible when you contact us.
If you are ordering at short notice, contact us directly rather than relying only on the online booking process. We treat wake and funeral bookings with care and will work with you to confirm what is available within your timeline. Where stock permits, we can often accommodate orders placed with less than a week's notice. Delivery is handled with discretion and we aim to keep the process as straightforward as possible for the family.
All stock levels are shown live on the website. Orders can be placed online at any time without calling for availability. The standard hire period covers three days: delivery the day before your event and collection the day after. Expo Hire delivers across England and Wales from 11 depots.
For larger orders, the Large Order Deposit Scheme lets you reserve stock with a 25% deposit well ahead of the event date. A Minor Damage Waiver is available to cover accidental damage.
