Chair types available

  • Banqueting chairs — padded fabric seats on chrome frames, the standard choice for formal dining at weddings, conferences and gala dinners. Suited to chair covers and sashes from the linen range.
  • Folding chairs — white resin and wooden folding options for outdoor events, marquees, village halls and multi-use setups. Stackable and straightforward to transport in large quantities.
  • Eames chairs — contemporary shell chairs for exhibitions, product launches and corporate events where a modern aesthetic matters. Available in multiple colours to match event branding.
  • Tub chairs — fabric and faux leather bucket-style chairs for reception areas, lounge setups and exhibition stand meeting corners.
  • Tolix chairs — industrial metal chairs for bar areas, outdoor setups and events with a raw, modern look. Stackable and weather-resistant for outdoor use.

Events that use chair hire

Weddings are the most common occasion for bulk chair hire. A wedding breakfast for 120 guests needs 120 chairs for the meal, a further 50 to 80 chairs for the ceremony depending on format, and sometimes additional seating for the evening reception. Banqueting chairs in a white or gold frame are the standard choice, often dressed with chair covers and sashes from the linen range.

Conferences use chairs in one of two main layouts. Theatre-style places chairs in rows without tables, maximising the number of delegates in a space. A classroom-style layout adds a trestle table per row and reduces capacity. Office chairs from the office furniture range suit boardroom and working conference setups where delegates are seated for long periods.

Exhibitions use chairs on a smaller scale. A stand at the NEC or ExCeL typically needs two to four chairs for client meetings alongside bar stools and poseur tables. Eames and tub chairs work well for this purpose and look at home on a well-dressed exhibition stand.

Quantities and ordering

Order chairs at one per expected seated guest. For events using multiple room layouts through the day, calculate the peak seated count and order to that figure. All chairs are delivered stacked on pallets or trolleys. Expo Hire delivers across England and Wales. Book at least three to four weeks ahead for large wedding and conference orders. Schools, colleges and universities can find guidance on the education hire page. Churches and village halls can find guidance on the church and community hall hire page.

No security deposit

Expo Hire does not charge a security deposit. A free minor damage waiver covers minor damage and loss. Excessive or negligent damage is charged at 10 times the hire price. Full details in our terms and conditions.
