Coventry is a city in the West Midlands, lying on the River Sherbourne. The city has been a large settlement for centuries, although it wasn't given city status until the Middle Ages. Coventry lies 19 miles east of Birmingham, 11 miles north of Warwick and Leamington Spa. The city's cathedral was rebuilt after the 14th century cathedral chaurch of Saint Michael was destroyed by the Luftwaffe in the Coventry Blitz during World War II.
Historically a ribbon-making centre, Coventry bexame a centre for motor and cycle manufacturing in the 20th century. While the motor industry has declined drastically, Jaguar has kept its corporate headquarters in the city and Peugeot still have a large parts centre despite closing their Ryton site.
The Coventry Arena, which was built in 2005 features a 6,000 square metre column free exhibition hall which has brought various trade shows to the city.
