Why Gas Over Charcoal at Scale

The practical advantages of gas at an event are significant. A gas BBQ reaches cooking temperature in 10 minutes and maintains it for the duration of service. Charcoal takes 30 to 45 minutes to reach temperature, cools down as the coals exhaust, and requires additional loading during a long service. For an event with a fixed service window, gas is more reliable.

The Cinders BBQ produces an authentic char and smoke flavour from its lava rock bed, which addresses the main objection to gas cooking. For guests at an outdoor event, the result is indistinguishable from charcoal.

Output and Capacity

The Cinders is designed for continuous high-volume cooking. Its multi-zone grill surface allows different items to cook at different temperatures, which matters when you are running burgers and chicken simultaneously or managing a mixed menu with different cooking times.

For a two-hour service feeding 100 guests, the Cinders runs at capacity throughout without a break. This is not achievable with a domestic gas BBQ, which lacks both the grill surface area and the thermal output to sustain that volume.

Fuel and Setup

The BBQ runs on propane gas from a standard cylinder. You will need at least one full cylinder for a two-hour service at high output, and two cylinders for longer services. Factor gas into your event catering budget alongside food costs.
