Settle is a market town in North Yorkshire. The town lies to the northwest of Skipton, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Settle's origins date back to the 7th century, and it is named in the Domesday Book. The town was granted a market charter in 1249, and the market square developed as the centre of the town.
