Gold and silver Chiavari chairs cost more to hire than black or white. The metallic lacquer finish takes longer to produce and shows scuffs faster, so suppliers replace them more often. Hire 20 chairs and you pay a higher rate per chair than if you hire 200. Delivery, collection and handling cost roughly the same whether the van carries 20 chairs or 150, so suppliers spread that fixed cost across the order. A wedding for 60 guests and a conference for 400 will see very different per-unit pricing from the same supplier.
A cushion pad or a loose cover typically costs a few pounds per chair, not a percentage of the chair price. If you are dressing up a plain finish rather than paying for gold or silver, covers plus cushions can work out cheaper than upgrading the chair itself.
Ground-floor venues with van access near the door cost less to service than a fourth-floor room reached by a narrow staircase. Ask your venue about loading access before you get a quote. Some suppliers charge separately for stairs, long carries or restricted parking.
