Hire Terms That Don't Match Our Product Names

Some of the most-searched hire terms don't match our product names word for word, so a customer can be looking straight at what we stock and never find it.

Some of the most-searched hire terms do not match our product names word for word. You can search for a familiar event term, land in the right category, and still miss the item because the product title uses a different trade name. That happens across glassware, tables, refrigeration and linen. If you know the alternative names people use, you can find the right item faster and avoid building a quote around the wrong product.

Event planners, caterers, venues and wedding coordinators often describe the same item in different ways. One buyer asks for a banqueting table, another asks for a trestle, and a third types folding buffet table. They may all be trying to solve the same problem. The safest approach is to think about the job the item needs to do, then match that use to the product. A few common search terms cause more confusion than most, so these are worth knowing before you order.

Champagne flutes

Customers search for champagne glasses, prosecco flutes, toast glasses and flutes, often meaning the same thing. Our crystal champagne flute sits in that group. It suits wedding toasts, drinks receptions, awards nights and any event where you want sparkling wine served in matching glassware. If you are planning one toast, you can order tightly against guest numbers. If sparkling wine will run through a reception, plan for several pours per guest rather than a single first round.

Glassware wording often follows the drink rather than the shape. A planner may search for prosecco glass hire because that matches the drinks list. Another may search for champagne flute hire because that is the phrase they use on event briefs. If you cannot see the exact wording you expected, check the image and the category before moving on. The product you need may already be there under a slightly different name.

Trestle tables and banqueting tables

Trestle table, folding table, buffet table and banqueting table get used interchangeably, but they do not always mean the same thing in practice. A 4ft rectangular trestle table works well for buffets, registration desks, display use and back-of-house service. It gives you a practical surface in a compact footprint and fits venues where a longer table would block movement.

For guest dining, the 6ft rectangular banqueting table suits a different job. It seats 6 to 8 guests with room for place settings, glassware and service. That matters if you are planning a wedding breakfast, business dinner or fundraising event. A table that works well for buffet service may not work well for seated dining, even if the search terms sound close. Decide first how guests will use the table, then match the product to that layout.

The room matters as much as the table name. A venue may say it holds a certain number, but that figure may assume theatre rows, not dining tables. A long table can technically fit and still make the space awkward if staff cannot move between rows or guests cannot reach their seats easily. Search language will not solve that for you. Your floorplan will.

Fridge hire

Fridge hire is another broad search term. One customer wants cold storage for catering stock. Another needs a visible drinks fridge for front-of-house use. A third needs a unit that adds prep space in a temporary kitchen. Our counter fridge with an integrated work surface gives you chilled storage and a prep top in one unit, which helps where kitchen space is limited.

You will also see searches for bottle cooler hire, undercounter fridge hire, drinks fridge hire and wine fridge hire. Those terms usually describe the use rather than the equipment type. Start with the service plan. Do you need chefs storing ingredients, bar staff chilling bottles, or a display unit guests can see? Once you answer that, the right product becomes easier to spot, even if the wording on the page differs from the wording in your search.

Table linen

Table linen can mean tablecloths, covers, toppers or napkins, depending on who is asking. Our 54-inch square tablecloth comes in white or black and suits poseur and standard tables where you want a clean finish without a full formal dining setup. Napkins hire separately in white, black, gold or burgundy, so you can coordinate the look without changing the whole furniture plan.

Linen usually works best when you choose the tables first and the cloths second. If you start with colour alone, you can end up with the wrong size or style for the setup. Think about whether the table will sit at a drinks area, a dining layout or a registration point, then choose the linen that fits that use.

How to avoid ordering the wrong item

Search by function first. Ask what the item needs to do at the event. Does it seat guests, hold food, chill drinks, dress the room or support service? That question will often lead you to the right category even if your first search term does not. You can then use the product image, capacity and surrounding category to sense-check the result.

If you cannot find something by name, get in touch. Most of our range covers the same equipment under a few different names.
