Furniture Rental: Things to Consider

We want your furniture rental order to go as smoothly as possible. Find out what information you need to consider before placing your order.

Furniture Rental makes a large proportion of the products we deliver on a daily basis at Expo Hire. Whether it’s Chiavari chairs for a wedding, three-seater Chesterfields for a product launch or even basic folding chairs and banqueting tables, it’s pretty much certain that there will be rental furniture in one of our vans out on the road.

While our drivers are experts at delivering furniture, there are things our customers can do to make sure that their delivery and collection experience is the best it can possibly be. We’ve put together this blog article to offer some examples of what should be borne in mind.

Delivery Access for Rental Furniture

One of the biggest problems that can occur when delivering furniture is access to where it needs to go. Getting larger pieces of furniture through narrow doorways can be an exercise in frustration, while stairs will ensure anyone moving furniture around runs the risk of injury.

When placing an order to rent furniture, it’s important to think about access. We’ve put dimension details for our furniture on product pages wherever possible, which should help you understand if you’ve got enough space to manoeuvre a piece of furniture around. If you're still unsure it's best to contact a member of our team via the live chat facility to talk about dimensions before you place your order; the last thing we want to do is to turn up and not be able to deliver what you need.

As our drivers can only deliver up to 50m from their vehicle and cannot go up or down stairs, it’s worth bearing in mind the help you may need from your own staff if your event is above the ground floor or a distance away from the roadside.

Storage of furniture rental

Another issue to consider when looking at furniture rental is the space required to store it in the time outside of the event being held. With most orders being delivered at least one day prior to the event and collected the day after the event, some temporary storage space is going to be a minimum requirement.

This storage space needs to be secure not only from theft but also the elements. For example, while our wooden banqueting tables can be used outside if under cover they also need to be stored in a place where they are completely covered and out of contact with wet ground. The results of not being able to do this can be catastrophic as water damage can ruin tables quickly, leaving you with a hefty replacement charge to deal with.

Wherever possible, we’ve tried to ensure furniture we rent out is stackable to help mitigate storage concerns. When furniture is stackable, we’ve listed it clearly on the product page to make it easy for you to find. Unfortunately we cannot lend trolleys to customers to move furniture around; if you know that they're likely to be needed it's best to get one ahead of time.

It’s easy to rent furniture as well as many different kinds of event hire including catering equipment, linen and glassware from the Expo Hire website. All pricing and availability is shown online, and orders can be completed without any need for quotation.
