Introduction

Expo Hire UK Ltd recognises its environmental duties under the Environmental Protection act 1990 and accompanying legislation, we recognise that they have both a legal and ethical a responsibility to take an environmentally (and socially) responsible approach both to existing activities and to possible new developments.

Key areas of attention

  • Comply with all legislation, using codes of practice and guidance by regulatory bodies wherever possible.
  • Provide staff with the information and necessary resources to implement this policy.
  • Plan our delivery and collections to minimise mileage and harmful emissions.
  • To minimise harm to the environment, communities and wildlife.
  • To minimise energy usage wherever possible
  • To promote the principles of sustainability in our processes, choice of products and maintenance.

Vehicles

All vehicles are maintained to a high standard in order to minimise exhaust emissions and maximise fuel efficiency. We regularly review our fleet and replace vehicles which no longer meet our requirements.

Cleaning

We have invested heavily in state-of-the-art wash plants to clean all crockery, cutlery and glassware, these machines are designed to minimise water usage and energy consumption, and our choice of chemicals used is informed by our environmental responsibilities.

We outsource our linen cleaning to an external companies who have strict environmental policies

Re-use, Repair and Recycling

As a hire company by our nature the re-use of products is in our own self interest, this means that we maintain our equipment to a high stand to extend their lifespan and make repairs as an when required. When our products reach the end of their life we first look to sell them on to someone else to re-use and extend their useful life and only as a last resort let them go to recycling or disposal.

Packaging materials

Wherever possible all packaging is re-used. We use our own reusable packaging for glassware and cutlery and only use single plastic where required to reduce damage to other products.
