Patio Heater Hire Guide
Both heater types run at 13kW on LPG and cover a similar area. The choice comes down to where you place them and how you want the space to look.
A tall column heater with a visible flame through the glass tube. Directional heat radiates 360° and the flame column adds atmosphere at evening events. The visible presence suits prestige outdoor settings — terraces, marquees and hospitality areas where the heater forms part of the environment.
Best for: open terraces, marquee edges, prestige outdoor events, evening functions
Height: approximately 220cm — needs 0.5m clearance from any canopy
A circular diffuser head distributes heat downward over a wider standing area at a lower profile. More even coverage in high-density outdoor spaces. The compact head is easier to position under low canopies and gazebos where a tall pyramid cannot safely operate.
Best for: gazebo interiors, covered seating areas, dense standing zones, low canopy environments
Note: the correct choice under any overhead fabric or timber cover
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Heat output | 13kW — covers roughly 4–6m² of standing area |
| Fuel | Standard 13kg LPG propane cylinder (not included in hire) |
| Ignition | Electric piezo — more reliable than spark lighters in cold or damp conditions |
| Run time | Approx. 14 hours per 13kg cylinder at full output |
| Coverage guide | 1 heater per 8–10 guests in enclosed or part-enclosed spaces |
One heater per 8–10 guests works well in enclosed or part-enclosed outdoor spaces. In fully open areas, wind reduces effective coverage significantly — err towards more units for exposed sites. Heaters can run at reduced output, so having extra units gives you flexibility on the night.
| Guests | Suggested heaters (sheltered) | Suggested heaters (open/exposed) |
|---|---|---|
| 20–30 | 2–3 | 4–5 |
| 50 | 5–6 | 8–10 |
| 100 | 10–12 | 14–18 |
