A standard 750ml bottle of champagne pours 6 glasses at the standard 125ml serve. Order too few and the toast runs dry before the speeches finish.

A standard 750ml bottle of champagne pours 6 glasses at the standard 125ml serve. That's the number bartenders and venues work to, and it holds for prosecco and sparkling wine too.
750ml divided by a 125ml glass gives 6 servings. Some venues pour slightly smaller at 100ml, which stretches a bottle to 7-7.5 glasses. Others pour a generous 150ml, dropping the count to 5.
| Glass size | Glasses per bottle |
|---|---|
| 100ml | 7.5 |
| 125ml (standard) | 6 |
| 150ml | 5 |
For a 100-guest wedding toast, divide guests by glasses-per-bottle: 100 ÷ 6 = 16.7, so order 17 bottles. Add 10% for spills, refills, and the bar staff pouring a little heavy under pressure - round up to 19.
A single toast needs one glass per guest. A drinks reception where champagne flows for an hour or more needs 2-3 glasses per guest, so multiply your bottle count accordingly.
Order 10% more glasses than guests to cover breakages and re-pours without anyone standing empty-handed between rounds. A champagne bucket keeps bottles chilled tableside without needing to send them back to the bar.
