Dry Hire Guide — Equipment Without Staff

Dry Hire Guide

Dry hire means we deliver the equipment and collect it afterwards — setup, arrangement and breakdown is handled by you or your crew. It is the standard option for event companies, experienced hirers and anyone with their own team on the ground.

What is included in dry hire?

  • Delivery to your event address on the agreed date and time
  • Off-loading at the delivery point (ground floor or loading bay access required)
  • Collection after the event on the agreed date and time
  • All equipment cleaned and ready to use on arrival

What is not included in dry hire?

  • Setup, positioning or dressing of furniture
  • Breakdown or stacking after your event
  • Carrying equipment to upper floors (unless agreed in advance)

If you need setup and breakdown, we offer a staffed hire service for events where this is required. Contact us to discuss the options.

Who uses dry hire?

Event companies and planners

Event businesses with their own setup crew hire dry to keep costs predictable and logistics under their own control. They know exactly how long setup takes and do not need additional people on site from a supplier.

Venues with in-house teams

Hotels, conference centres and dedicated event venues hire dry to supplement their permanent stock for large bookings. Their venue staff handle the setup as part of their normal event preparation.

Production and film companies

Film and TV productions hire dry for set dressing, background furniture and prop requirements. They have art department and props teams who handle placement and do not need supplier staff on set.

Experienced private hirers

Clients running their own weddings, parties or events with a willing team of friends or family often prefer dry hire — it costs less and gives them full control over how and when furniture is arranged.

Practical requirements for dry hire

  • Access: The delivery vehicle needs ground floor or loading bay access. Let us know about any access restrictions (narrow roads, height barriers, no-vehicle zones) when you book.
  • Stacking on collection: Equipment should be stacked neatly and accessible at the collection point. Chairs should be stacked, tables folded. This keeps collection fast and avoids delays.
  • Damage: You are responsible for the equipment during the hire period. Damaged items are charged at the replacement rate. We send an itemised delivery note — check it on arrival and report any pre-existing damage immediately.
  • Late collection: If your event runs late and collection needs to move, let us know as early as possible. We schedule collections across multiple jobs and cannot always accommodate same-day changes.

Dry hire pricing

Dry hire rates are the standard rates shown in your quote. There is no additional charge for dry hire specifically — it is simply hire without the staffed setup service. For large orders or trade accounts, volume pricing applies in the normal way.
